  Namco has officially announced the arcade release for Tekken 4 in Japan. The date set will be August 1 and an additional event has been planned to occur September 2 commemorating the games release. The event will be titled The King of the Iron Fist 2001 tournament, and will involve the support of gamers. Currently, Tekken 4 is presenting 10 initially playable and 10 unlocked characters. The initial characters will include Kazuya Mishima, Steve Fox, Craig Marduk, Yoshimitsu, Ling Xiaoyu, Paul Phoenix, Hwoarang, Marshall Law, King, and Christie Monteiro. A North American arcade release date is yet to be announced, just as the official date for the PS2 version of Tekken 4 is unavailable.
